One of the greatest joys of ministry is witnessing young people discover their God-given purpose. The Next Gen Choir, under the exceptional leadership of Mr. Dale Brown, has become far more than a choir—it has become a ministry of hope, mentorship, and transformation within the City of Markham.
The Next Gen Choir is a community choir with a Christ-centred mission. It reaches young people from across our community, many of whom had drifted away from God, struggled to find purpose, or simply longed for a place where they belonged. Under Mr. Brown’s compassionate leadership, these young people have found more than a stage—they have found encouragement, mentorship, family, and hope.
Parents have expressed heartfelt gratitude as they witnessed remarkable changes in their children’s lives. Young people who once lacked direction are now growing in confidence, discipline, and character. Through music, meaningful relationships, and positive mentorship, lives are being restored, and hearts are being opened to the love of Jesus Christ. This is ministry in its purest form.
Apple Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church was honoured to host this extraordinary community initiative. We were privileged to welcome His Worship, Mayor Frank Scarpitti, who commended the Next Gen Choir, Apple Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church, and Mr. Dale Brown for the creativity, excellence, and positive contribution they continue to make within the City of Markham. In recognition of his outstanding leadership and unwavering investment in young people, the Mayor presented Mr. Dale Brown with a City of Markham Special Recognition Certificate.
We were equally honoured to welcome York Regional Police Chief Paulo Da Silva, accompanied by Mrs. Michelle Pancham, wife of Superintendent Kolin Alexander, 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Award Recipient and York Regional Police Diversity Liaison. Chief Da Silva applauded the choir’s influence on youth and community engagement and presented Mr. Dale Brown with a York Regional Police Special Recognition Certificate for his exceptional service to young people.
The evening was further enriched by the inspiring remarks of Judge McDonald, who reminded us that music has the power to shape character, strengthen communities, and transform lives. His challenge reinforced what we witnessed throughout the evening—that when a community invests in its young people, everyone benefits.
At Apple Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church, we believe that mission extends beyond the walls of our sanctuary. The Next Gen Choir beautifully reflects our commitment to reaching the community with the love of Christ. It reminds us that every song can become a testimony, every rehearsal an opportunity for mentorship, and every young person a life with God-given potential.
May God continue to bless Mr. Dale Brown, every member of the Next Gen Choir, their families, and all who support this life-changing ministry. Together, we are not only raising voices—we are raising the next generation for the glory of God.
