Our Pastors

Pastor Kurt Thomas

Welcome to Apple Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church!

It’s such a joy to have you connect with us! Here at Apple Creek, we’re more than a congregation — we’re a movement of people passionate about loving God, serving others, and transforming our community with the hope of Jesus Christ.

Apple Creek is a place where worship comes alive, faith grows deep, and relationships are real. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to share Christ’s love in every way we can — through compassion, service, worship, and everyday living. We believe that when hearts are surrendered to Jesus, amazing things happen — lives are changed, families are strengthened, and hope is restored.

My own walk with Christ began when I was just twelve years old, and that decision set the direction for my life. I’m originally from the beautiful islands of Trinidad and Tobago, where I began my ministry journey. I studied Theology with a Pastoral Emphasis at the University of the Southern Caribbean (formerly Caribbean Union College), in affiliation with Andrews University, USA. I later pursued a Master’s in Church Administration and Leadership at Andrews University, USA.

Before joining the Apple Creek family, I served as the pastor of the Thunder Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church in Northern Ontario — a warm and mission-driven congregation committed to community outreach and spiritual growth. Prior to that, I ministered in the South Caribbean Conference in Trinidad, where I pastored several districts engaged in church planting, evangelism, and discipleship.

During that time, I also served for many years as Ministerium Zonal Leader and as a member of the Conference Executive Committee, helping to guide and strengthen pastoral ministry and church development across the field.

Every step of the journey has deepened my conviction that the gospel still changes lives — and that the church is called to be the heartbeat of hope in its community.

Now, at Apple Creek, I’m blessed to lead a vibrant and caring church family that loves God wholeheartedly and welcomes everyone with open arms. As soon as you enter, you’ll catch the rhythm of vibrant worship, feel the warmth of real connection, and know that God’s Spirit is alive in this place.

Whether you’re searching for purpose, community, or a deeper walk with God — there’s a place for you here. Come worship with us, grow with us, and experience what it truly means to be part of a church that lives out the joy of Jesus every day. Come and say hello — I would be honoured to meet you!

Pastor Travis Kwon

Pastor Kwon, Hyuk Seung (Travis) was born on May 11, 1988, into a pastor’s family in South Korea. Church has been his home, playground, and school where he learned about God. Growing up, spending time at the church from early morning to late night felt natural to him. People affectionately called him ‘little pastor,’ and over time, his childhood dream evolved into becoming a pastor for the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In middle school, he enrolled in the missionary school ‘Awaken the Dawn.’ Through daily worship, prayer sessions starting at 5 AM, and physical training, he nurtured his missionary aspirations. And numerous short-term missionary experiences reinforced his conviction that God is calling him to ministry whether it could be a missionary or pastor.

For high school, he attended the Christian High school affiliated with Samyook SDA University in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. After graduation, he pursued theology at Samyook University. During his second year of studies, he took a year off to support a mission in Chiba City, Japan, where he served as a missionary in a local church for a year. Upon his return to Korea, he resumed his studies and, during that time, met his wife, ‘Amao, Tomomi.’ They got married in the year of his graduation.

In 2012, he pursued further studies at Andrews University Seminary in the United States, where he remained until 2016. After graduating, while seeking God’s guidance, he received a calling from the Ontario Conference and began his pastoral journey in Canada. His first congregation was at Western Toronto Korean church in Etobicoke. He later served at College Park Church and Willowdale Church before joining Apple Creek Church, where he currently serves as an Assistant/ Youth Pastor.

His ministry motto is, ‘Let’s not just do ministry but have it that overflows.’ He now anticipates God’s abundant blessings upon Apple Creek Church, where together they can experience an overflowing ministry of God’s grace.
